Launching the STSP Certification Framework

Today marks a defining moment for transport safety in Saudi Arabia. The Society for Transport Safety is proud to announce the launch of the Saudi Transport Safety Professional (STSP) certification framework — the Kingdom's first internationally-aligned credential designed specifically for transport safety practitioners across all six transport modes.

Why Certification Matters

For too long, transport safety roles in Saudi Arabia have operated without a unified standard of professional competence. Employers have struggled to verify expertise. Professionals have lacked a clear career pathway. And regulators have had no mechanism to ensure that the people managing safety are qualified to do so.

The STSP framework solves all three problems simultaneously. It creates a talent pipeline, a career ladder, and a quality assurance mechanism — all under one credential owned by an independent professional society.

Four Levels, One Standard

The framework is designed to accommodate professionals at every career stage:

• STSP-F (Foundation) — For new entrants, graduates, and career changers. Establishes baseline knowledge across all six modes.
• STSP-P (Practitioner) — For working professionals with 2–5 years of experience. Validates applied competence in a primary mode.
• STSP-S (Senior) — For safety managers and consultants with 5+ years. Demonstrates strategic leadership and cross-functional capability.
• Fellow — The highest recognition, reserved for industry leaders and major contributors who have shaped the profession.

International Alignment

Each STSP level maps to international standards maintained by IOSH, CIHT, and IRU. This means Saudi professionals can carry their credentials abroad — and international professionals can find a clear pathway into the Saudi market.
